When the tobacco industries were set up, the publicity was made in a way that smoking became a status symbol of fashion icons. It is very rightly said that our media is highly impactful among all the industries. But today in the 21st Century where we all hail against pollution be it of any sort or we rally against any object or act that proves harmful to us and others around us- smoking raises some serious concerns such as whether is it a man’s style or a deliberate suicide attempt? A person smoking is almost killing himself. Smoking affects your lungs directly resulting in asthma and other respiratory problems. Not only this but smoking also affects the people around the smoker known as Passive smokers. The smoke that a cigarette releases is many times harmful to the people around us. Remember that smoking is a habit not a style, and that too a bad one. It gives an impression that you lack self-control and patience.

An alarming fact about smoking is that smoking kills nearly every organ of your body.  A study revealed that 87 percent of lung cancer is due to the presence of toxicity produced due to the smoking of cigarette. Not only this, smoking brings with it many problems and diseases like pulmonary diseases, arthritis, asthma, visionary problems, diabetes, tuberculosis, bone deterioration, gum and tooth problems and many disorders of brain and spinal cord. The list of problems is never ending. It’s more like a deliberate push button to a slow poisoned death.

Children who live close by a chain smoker or even a regular smoker are more prone to the above said different diseases. Other than that, children who see their family members smoking in early age are more likely to be a smoker and that too from a very young age.
